Sergio Busquets is reportedly yet to respond to the Barcelona’s offer of a new contract amid fears that he could leave at the close of the season.
The long-serving Spaniard is nearing the end of his current Camp Nou contract, and his future has been a key discussion point throughout the season.
MLS and Saudi Arabian clubs are watching things closely, and it has been reported that Busquets has opted to leave the club on a free transfer.
However, the 34-year-old is said to be thinking about his future during the current international break, and Barcelona have offered him a new one-year contract.
According to Mundo Deportivo, despite spending 10 days weighing the merits and drawbacks of the renewal offer, Busquets is still yet to give his approval or disapproval.

The midfielder has not been given a deadline by Barcelona, and it is largely believed that the club needs to make a better offerto hold onto the 34-year-old through the end of 2024.
A sensational return to Camp Nou for Lionel Messi, on the other hand, may convince Busquets to sign an extension, with the Argentina international appearing to be on his way out of PSG this summer.
However, Busquets’ renewal and Messi’s prospective return are hampered by Barcelona’s well-documented financial difficulties, as they must cut their pay bill by a whopping €200m (£175.6m) to comply with UEFA and La League regulations.
Busquets is the club’s longest-serving first-team player, having made his senior debut in September 2008. He has now represented Barcelona on 713 occasions across all events.
Should Busquets decide to leave Barcelona this summer, the club appears to have identified Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan as a potential replacement.
