Lazio president Claudio Lotito has boldly claimed the club will not be entertaining any offer for former Arsenal defender, Nuno Taveres.
The shocking announcement comes as the defender has been performing at an exceptional level in Serie A since joining Lazio in the summer, when he was loaned from the Emirates with a £7.5 million purchase obligation.
Tavares leads the division in assists this season and has contributed eight in as many games for the fifth-place team. His performances in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest and Arsenal are very different from now.
According to Il Messaggero as reported by Daily Mail, Lotito, who signed the 24-year-old on-loan from the Gunners with an obligation to buy, said: ‘I won’t sell Tavares, not even for €70m (£59m). We have beaten off strong competition from the big clubs to sign the left-back in the summer.’
After leaving Benfica in 2021 to make the move to north London, Tavares—who has yet to be fully capped for Portugal—made 28 appearances for the team across all competitions.

But after failing to establish himself under Mikel Arteta, he was sent on a string of loan stints, initially to Marseille, then to Forest for a brief stint, and last to Rome.
After three challenging seasons, the defender finally seems to have found his place and is thriving in Italy.
