Several Chelsea players are reportedly regretting their decision to sign long-term contracts with the club.
The players in the first XI are worried about the club’s future provided Chelsea has lost five straight matches, including the Champions League after falling to LaLiga powerhouse Real Madrid in the quarterfinals.
In addition to worries about the club’s future, some team members are worried about their chances of making the first team next season because of Chelsea’s overcrowded squad.
Chelsea’s January recruitment spree has resulted in a massive squad of over 30 players, with numerous millions of pounds players completely frozen out on matchdays.
In addition, the team may not play in Europe at all the next season due to their subpar Premier League performances. As a result, the new additions will be given even fewer opportunities in the starting XI.
Therefore, according to The Athletic, several squad members have expressed their desire to leave the club this summer.
However, the majority of them have signed long-term deals with the Premier League giants.

A source close to the first XI said several players were told they were going to be ‘key’ to the ‘exciting new Chelsea project’ during their contract negotiations. However, they have hardly featured for the Blues this season.
The longevity of their deals will make it harder for them to leave the club.
This is said to have irritated several players and caused an unwanted atmosphere among the Chelsea squad.
What Else Is Making The New Chelsea Signings Unhappy?
Boehly and Co. have pivoted towards an incentivized salary structure, but the newer signings and those who extended their deals are the only ones who fall into this category.
With the club missing out on UEFA Champions League football, those players could see their wages decrease by 30-50 percent, which is drastic.
However, not everyone will suffer this fate. Those whose contracts were signed during the Abramovich era or in the early stages of the Boehly reign won’t suffer these pay cuts.
This includes Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, who arrived at Stamford Bridge before the season started.
This is also causing a rift in the dressing room as some are paying financially for Chelsea’s shortcomings this season while others aren’t.
