Sharma hits another ton as India fight back

Rohit Sharma hit his third century of the series as India reached 224-3 at stumps on a rain-affected first day of the third Test with South Africa. The 32-year-old finished unbeaten on 117 from 164 deliveries, with 14 fours and four sixes as the sub-continental giants try to seal a 3-0 series triumph. The hosts made a poor start after electing to bat first as Mayank Agarwal fell to Kagiso Rabada for just 10, while number three Cheteshwar Pujara lasted nine balls before he was trapped lbw by the same bowler for a duck. India were teetering on 16-2 and things got worse as skipper Virat Kohli was dismissed by Anrich Nortje for 12 with the score on 39. However, Ajinkya Rahane hit 11 fours and one six in an unbeaten 83 and added 185 in a unbroken stand with Sharma to ensure the home side were happier going to stumps. Rain meant that only 58 overs were possible on day one in Ranchi and India will be looking to push on and reach another mammoth first-innings total on Sunday.
