Premier League great, Alan Shearer has reportedly told Arsenal must sign a striker before they can finally win a league title.
Arteta’s magnificent Gunners have been unstoppable for the past two years, but they have fallen short against Pep Guardiola’s unbeatable Manchester City.
But this year, everything seemed to be going well for the north London club. This might be the campaign that stops City since Guardiola’s contract is about to expire. There are significant players who have left or are about to go, and the Citizens are facing legal action soon.
According to The Mirror, Newcastle icon Shearer concurs, but thinks the Gunners need a goal-hungry striker as a last-ditch effort to beat Guardiola’s City to the crown.
“If they sign a top-class striker between now and the end of the season, I think they’ll win the league,” Shearer stated on The Rest Is Football podcast. “This is the one, but I think they still need that striker.”
There have been many rumors that the Gunners are interested in possible additions. Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford who was highly anticipated to join the Gunners in January, is one notable exception.
Newcastle forward, Alexander Isak was reportedly connected to Arsenal earlier in this transfer window. However, with the Magpies are trying to balance their books due to concerns over a PSR violation.

The Swede appears to be beyond Arteta’s means, with a rumored sum of over £100 million required to obtain his services.
Perhaps a different Swede would seem like a better choice. Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP may be available this summer for less money despite having an £86 million release clause in his contract.
