Sheikh Jassim  Offered Full Control By Manchester United For A Lower Price Than Sir Jim Ratcliffe

According to sources, Sheikh Jassim was given the opportunity to purchase 100% of Manchester United for a significantly lower price than Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The Glazer family listed the Red Devils for sale more than a year ago. Sheikh Jassim was first connected to a full takeover of the team, but Ratcliffe ultimately purchased a minority share.

Sheikh Jassim allegedly made five bids to buy United, but the Glazers rejected him and decided to give Ratcliffe 25% of the team instead. According to The Telegraph, new records reveal that Sheikh Jassim was previously offered the chance to purchase United at a lower price than Ratcliffe.

According to reports, Sheikh Jassim was offered the club for £4.55 billion, which is a substantial discount from the widely reported £6 billion asking price that the Glazers had set. Ratcliffe, meanwhile, paid £1.3 billion for his minority interest, valuing the club as a whole at £5.2 billion.

The Athletic reports that after Ratcliffe’s recent four meetings with United fans, many of them left with a favorable opinion of the 71-year-old. The fourth meeting reportedly took place in person with local community leaders, while the first two were reportedly held in person with supporters. The third meeting reportedly took place over a video chat.

Ratcliffe’s first assignment as United’s new manager is reportedly to request an external auditor to evaluate the team’s internal structure, according to a report from The Guardian. Up to 300 jobs could be in jeopardy because their most recent investor wants to cut about 30% of the current workforce.
