Manchester City midfielder, Bernardo Silva took a swipe at Arsenal following an exhilarating 2-2 draw on Sunday.
The Portuguese star criticized the Gunners for not having the courage to face his side ‘head on’ at the Etihad.
After slicing through the Arsenal defense, Erling Haaland scored Man City’s opening goal with his 10th Premier League goal of the season. However, the visitors responded with a spectacular swerving effort from outside the box from Riccardo Calafiori.
Gabriel Magalhaes’ second headed goal in as many league games put Arsenal ahead 2-1 at half time. But Michael Oliver’s dismissal of Leandro Trossard on the very last second of play meant that Arsenal had to play deep with 10 men the entire second half.
Though, the siege eventually failed to give Arsenal the victory despite appearing to be a masterstroke. John Stones scored a last-minute goal in the 98th minute to give City a share of the spoils.
According to Daily Mail, following the game, Silva took a scathing jab at the North London team, suggesting that they were cowards for not going after Pep Guardiola’s team “head-on” in the hopes of winning.
Silva told TNT Sports when questioned about the similarities between Arsenal and Liverpool, who for years competed with City for the title under previous manager Jurgen Klopp.
“Well, perhaps because Liverpool has already won the Premier League and Arsenal hasn’t.

“Liverpool at that time had also won a Champions League, while Arsenal hasn’t.
“Liverpool always faced us head-on, to win matches. From that perspective, our games against Arsenal haven’t been like the matches against Liverpool were, and still are.”
