Sir Jim Ratcliffe Left ‘Frustrated’ As Premier League Rules Delay Man Utd Transfer Plans

Sir Jim Ratcliffe  proposed deal to buy a 25 per cent stake in Manchester United may not be confirmed until next week as fears grow over January transfer window plans.

Frustrations have grown as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s proposed contract at Manchester United has been delayed, with fears that the club’s January transfer plans would be jeopardized.

Ratcliffe had wanted to have completed his £1.4 billion acquisition by now, but there are no assurances it would be completed by the end of the international break. The 71-year-old is likely to purchase a 25% interest in United, with the INEOS CEO eager to restructure the club’s football operations.

However, Ratcliffe may have to wait until after United travel to Everton on Sunday before his deal is confirmed, according to The Telegraph. There will also be a six to eight-week ratification process done by the Premier League, where Ratcliffe will have to wait before he can press ahead with any transfer plans. This could explain why frustrations are growing about the delay of Ratcliffe’s deal, with the January transfer window around the corner.

It’s understood Ratcliffe believes recruitment problems have been one of United’s biggest downfalls since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013. This is despite the Glazers spending over £1bn on transfers, with Paul Pogba, Antony, Harry Maguire and Jadon Sancho among the most expensive recruits.

Meanwhile, it was reported last week that Ratcliffe disapproved of United’s decision to sign Casemiro and was willing to cash in on the £70m signing in January. The Brazilian had been linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, but it is claimed he would like to stay until at least the end of the season.
