Slot Discusses Chiesa Debut Ahead Of Nottingham Forest Clash

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot has reportedly hinted that Federico Chiesa could make his debut against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

Chiesa spent the international break adjusting to life on Merseyside after joining the Reds in a £12.5 million deal from Juventus last month.

According to The Evening Standard, the Reds boss, Slot may start the Italy international against Forest on Saturday for his Premier League debut.

“Federico has trained with the team three or four times so let’s see how he does today with the decision I make,” Slot said. “We have more than 20 players.”

But Harvey Elliot will be sidelined for at least a month after suffering a foot injury while playing for the England Under-21s last week.

“Harvey it’s a big disappointment for him and us,” Slot said. “He didn’t play a lot in the first three games but he showed himself really well in pre-season.

“He would have had a lot of playing time in the upcoming fixtures but that goes to someone else. It’s a blow for us and for him. We play seven games in 22 days or something like that.”

Under the new manager, Trent Alexander-Arnold has not yet played the entire 90 minutes. However, this could soon change as Alexis Mac Allister returns to training following a scare with Argentina.

“He [Alexander-Arnold] proved he could do 90 minutes,” Slot added. “He became tired in the Ipswich game. He’s completely ready to play 90 [now].

“Any injury news? Alexis trained with us yesterday and of course the press conference started with a question about Harvey, who is out for a longer time. No-one else [is injured].”
