Slot Gives Positive Update As Liverpool Star Eyes Return

Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot has reportedly confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold has recovered from injury and he is set to return to the team ahead of the Reds’ clash against Leicester City.

With captain Virgil van Dijk signing a new two-year contract on Thursday, just six days after top scorer Mohamed Salah did the same, the England right-back is the last of the team’s three high-profile players whose contracts expire this summer to not agree to new terms.

Although both of those players have committed to Anfield for the future, Alexander-Arnold is most likely to leave Merseyside at the end of the current campaign and sign a free transfer to Real Madrid.

According to The Evening Standard, while providing an update on his fitness on Friday, Slot said: “Trent is coming back from an injury, he trained with us yesterday and every time he plays with us and trains with us he shows his commitment.

“He has worked so hard to be back already now, and the moment he is on the pitch he shows me what a great football player he is and how much he is involved in us trying to achieve our goals this season.

“[He is] not [ready] to start but if things go well today and tomorrow, he might – might – be on the bench”

Before Sunday’s Premier League trip to relegation-threatened Leicester, where a victory would allow the team to clinch the title with five games remaining if Arsenal, the Champions League semi-finalists, loses to struggling Ipswich earlier in the afternoon, Liverpool manager Slot, however, showed no interest in talking about the topic.
