Slot Lauds Two Man United Stars For What They Did Against Liverpool

Liverpool head Coach, Arne Slot has highlighted the way Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot exploited Trent Alexander-Arnold’s poor display in the Reds’ 2-2 draw against Manchester United.

Although the 26-year-old was perhaps the worst player on the field for either team at Anfield, he was substituted for young full-back Conor Bradley in the 86th minute. Bradley got into the thick of things within a minute of entering the game, whereas Alexander-Arnold failed to win a single duel while on the field.

After the game, Liverpool’s boss attributed his lackluster performance to the ability of two United players. But it was also questioned whether the intense transfer interest from Real Madrid had distracted him.

According to Manchester World, Slot was asked if he felt most of United’s threat came down Liverpool’s right hand side, he told Sky Sports: “Yeah, I think they did. That is also due to Bruno Fernandes, who is a very, very good player and he played a very good game.

“United have shown many times if things are really difficult for them, they can show up. They did cause us some problems, Dalot was a threat as well on the left side.

“We are talking about two starters of the Portugal national team and that is why. It is not always easy to prevent them from getting into dangerous situations, which happened a few times. Unfortunately, that led to two goals.”

Liverpool are up next against Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Man United meanwhile, will have a midweek rest before travelling to north-London to face Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.
