Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot has reportedly lauded Trent Alexander-Arnold after the Reds star said he ‘wants to build a legacy’ before hanging up his boots.
After rising through the youth ranks and making his debut for the Reds under Jurgen Klopp, the homegrown defender is now considered to be among the best right-backs in the world and has become a significant figure at Anfield.
Klopp appointed Alexander-Arnold vice-captain before he left at the end of the previous campaign. But it is quite unclear what will happen to him. With just over six months left on his contract, the 26-year-old is being pursued by Spanish giants Real Madrid.
According to The Mirror, the England international expressed a wish to become one of the finest right-backs in history while remaining reticent about his future in an interview with Men in Blazers earlier this week.

He said: “Of course winning more trophies. But I think on a personal level a legacy, building a legacy. I think that’s something that is important.”
Slot was questioned about those remarks during his pre-game press conference prior to Liverpool’s Sunday trip to Tottenham. The Dutchman was unreserved in his praise of Alexander-Arnold’s perspective.
The Liverpool boss said: “I like this in a player! Everyone must have it at this level and if you don’t have that you don’t play at this level.
“But they have to put the team first and they all do it, including Trent. All the top players have this; they want to be special and be the best, to stay fit.”
