Wolves head to Slovan Bratislava in the Europa League with defender Ryan Bennett out of action through injury. The 29-year-old has been nursing a groin injury after being substituted early during the weekend’s 1-1 draw at home to Southampton.
He has not sufficiently recovered and boss Nuno Espirito Santo has left him at home for their trip to Slovakia in Group K, as they look to win their fifth consecutive away match in the competition.
Summer signing Pedro Neto is also still out with a hamstring injury but there is better news about Ruben Neves and Romain Saiss ahead of the contest, which could see Wolves go top of their group if they win and Sporting Braga drop points against Besiktas.
Neves has managed to shake off a calf knock and is available for selection along with Romain Saiss, who has recovered from a hamstring issue.
Opportunities could be handed to two academy youngsters also, as both Chem Campbell and Taylor Perry have travelled with the squad.
Perry, 18, has already made his debut this season, featuring in Wolves’ EFL Cup penalty victory against Reading last month but 16-year-old Campbell, a Wales Under-17 international, is yet to make his senior bow.
Right-back Matt Doherty, who has had to battle with Adama Traore for a place in the Wolves side this season, says they are still relishing the opportunity of being in Europe. “This is why we kind of busted a gut at the back end of last season to finish seventh,” he said. “These are the kind of challenges that we want, and we want to get out of the group and go as far as we can, there’s no doubt about that at all.”
Slovan Bratislava will be the first ever Slovakian opposition Wolves face at the Tehelne Pole Stadium.
They are managed by Jan Kozak, who had a brief loan spell with Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion back in 2006.
The Belasi have no new injury concerns after their 2-1 in over Pohronie in the Fortuna Liga.
Stirker Andraz Sporar is expected to start and will be looking to add to hid seven goal tally this season, with three of them coming in the Europa League.
