Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he wants to add a new winger signing to his team.
A turbulent summer full of rumours ultimately amounted to nothing in the transfer window.
The club were desperate to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund with Solskjaer keen on signing a right-winger.
And he made the same request after the match against Istanbul Basaksehir, telling United’s transfer chief Woodward exactly what he wants.
When asked if he wanted to move away from two holding midfielders, he said: “It’s too easy to say that.
“You need to look at the balance of the team. Sometimes, if you’ve got wingers really wide, that type of natural wide man, it’s maybe easier to play the traditional 4-3-3.
“We don’t really have that kind of winger.”
United are weighing up a bid for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze. La Razon says the Red Devils are preparing to beat Real Madrid in the race to sign Villarreal winger Chukwueze.
The winger is wanted by Madrid but United view the Nigerian as the perfect alternative to signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
Chukwueze recently told Tribalfootball.com: “Playing in England is still an ambition for me.
“I need to keep on working hard and to keep improving. I really want to play in England. I think so.”
