Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has disclosed that he won his first game as Besiktas manager by employing the same strategy that gave him immediate success at Manchester United.

Thanks to his players’ renewed confidence, life in Istanbul has begun similarly to his return to Manchester in December 2018.

“This is a very good start for the team and a great result,” Solskjaer declared after beating the La Liga outfit The Mirror echoed.
“But most of all, it’s great to see how my players fought for each other and how connected my players were with the fans, against a great football team.
“Since we started working with the players, we’ve worked on confidence. Football is about feeling good. We got everything we wanted tonight. We worked together as a team. It’s easier to win when you work hard and work smart.”
Solskjaer’s words echo those made following his first game back at United, where he also spent 11 years as a player.
The Red Devils hammered Cardiff 5-1 to begin his interim term with a bang, with the Norwegian having got smiles back on his players’ faces ahead of the encounter.
