Tottenham Hotspur striker Heung-Min Son has been expressing his pride at winning the EA Sports Player of the Month award – the first Asian footballer to take the prize.
The forward has scored four goals and grabbed one assist after replacing the injured Harry Kane in the team and helped them reach second spot in the Premier League, and was a key man in their 2-0 over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City who are now just a point ahead of them.
The South Korean international said: “I can’t believe it, it’s unbelievable for me to get this award and it’s just an unbelievable feeling.
“September was a great month for me and I’m very thankful to my teammates, gaffer and coaching staff. It’s just a great feeling.”
“This is my dream, to get the award,” Son said. “I want to get it a second time, a third time. When I take the award home my family will be crazy like you can’t believe; they will be really happy.”
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are the only unbeaten team in the top flight after seven games and they will continue their campaign and they travel to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon.
Mousa Dembele is still out with his foot injury and Kane is not expected to return until next month after picking up an ankle problem last month.
But if Son keeps playing like this, they won’t miss the England international.
