Southgate Set To Land New Job After England Resignation

Gareth Southgate is reportedly set to be offered a new job following his decision to step down from his role as England head coach.

As they did against Italy three years prior, the Three Lions made it to the Euro final once more but lost to Spain.

Despite his best efforts, Southgate was unable to lead the England side to a trophy, which would have marked their first since the World Cup of 1966.

The 53-year-old is being groomed for a new position as England is currently shortlisting contenders to replace him.

According to Daily Mail as reported by Caught Offside, the former Middlesbrough manager is being tipped to join the BBC as a pundit for their well-known program Match of the Day.

It was claimed in the report that ITV will compete with the BBC for his services.

For the upcoming season of Match of the Day, the BBC plans to pair Southgate with presenter Gary Lineker.

Southgate and his squad received harsh criticism from Lineker for their performances at the Euros this summer. And the two may have a rocky time together at the BBC.

Following Ian Wright’s departure from Match of the Day during the previous season, the BBC are searching for a fresh, well-known figure to join the show as a pundit.

The BBC are apparently seeking to sign Southgate in honor of the 60th anniversary of their “Match of the Day” program.
