Liverpool defender, Sepp van den Berg is reportedly willing to make a permanent transfer away from Anfield and join German side, Mainz 05.
Van den Berg, 22, played for the Bundesliga team on loan during the previous campaign, making 35 appearances across all competitions and saving them from relegation.
With two years left on his Liverpool contract, the Dutch central defender intends to sign a permanent deal with Mainz during the summer transfer window, according to Christian Heidel, the sporting director of Mainz.
“The only one who has made a decision is Sepp,” Heidel told German sports magazine Kicker as reported by The Mirror. “He definitely wants to stay in Mainz. He has said that very clearly in public.”
Those remarks imply that little progress has been made, even though Liverpool are believed to be asking for £20 million for the former Netherlands under-21 international. 2019 saw the acquisition of the then teenager from boyhood club PEC Zwolle to Anfield.

The 22-year-old has had three loan stints, the first to Championship side Preston North End and the second to Schalke. However, he was only able to play in nine games last season due to a major ankle injury.
With Mainz, Van den Berg saw significantly more success, and he recently hinted that he was prepared to move on from Liverpool.
