Spurs ace Lloris eyes January return

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris believes he could return to action in January as he continues his recovery from a fractured elbow. The Spurs captain has been on the sidelines since October 5 after suffering the injury during the 3-0 defeat to Brighton at the AMEX Stadium.
Lloris was carried from the field in agony, with Spurs confirming he would not return until 2020. They originally planned to avoid surgery, but he went under the knife on November 7 to try and improve his recovery.
The 32-year-old, who won the World Cup with France in 2018, has now confirmed he is on track for a January return, as he tries to help the club qualify for the Champions League.
He told M6: “Everything’s well. There can always be hazards, but my goal is to be ready for January. Whether it’s the beginning, the middle or the end, I don’t know. In any case, I’ll take time to make sure I’m well healed and that I can come back in top form. “I’m also using the time to regenerate myself. I’ve never been away from the pitch for so long, so it’s something new, but I’m treating it positively. I’m using this period to spend time with my family and my children.”
Paulo Gazzaniga has since claimed the No.1 spot, and he has helped Spurs improve their recent form, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side only losing one of their last five matches.
Lloris was speaking after France’s 2-1 win over Moldova at the Stade de France on Thursday. Didier Deschamps’ side were behind at one point, but they recorded a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Raphael Varane and Olivier Giroud.
That win and Turkey’s draw with Iceland ensured France’s passage through to next year’s European Championships, and Lloris will be confident he will have enough time to prove his fitness and replace Steve Mandanda in goal.
