Suso bemoans ‘unacceptable’ mediocrity from Milan

Suso has admitted AC Milan’s start to the season has been far from acceptable and insists no one in the squad is happy with their performances. The Rossoneri face defending champions Juventus on Sunday night looking for a result that could kickstart their campaign after a below-par start.
Milan currently find themselves down in 12th place in the Serie A standings, winning just four of their opening 11 matches.
The Sani Siro outfit’s woeful start resulted in them axing Marco Giampaolo as head coach, with Stefano Pioli appointed as his successor.
Giampaolo’s reign as head coach was the shortest in Milan’s history but his successor hasn’t fared much better, winning just one of his first four matches in the dugout.
The former Inter Milan coach has had a tricky start, with games against Roma and Lazio, but Suso says a club of Milan’s size should be performing better.
The 18-time Serie A winners are already 16 points behind leaders Juventus, and while Suso is expecting them to mount a title challenge, he believes they should be in the mix for a European finish, having ended the 2018/19 campaign in fifth. “We are Milan and mediocrity at a club like this is unacceptable,” the Spaniard told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. “I am the first to not be satisfied with my own performances, so it’s not an issue of criticism or pressure. The fans have a right to criticise and I deserved to be jeered, but I ask them to trust they will soon see the best of Suso again.”
Suso went on to revea fans should expect his form to dip over the next two months, claiming it is when back problems start to affect him.
The 25-year-old says it has been a condition that has plagued him throughout his career and he can’t seem to find a cure for the issue.
