Taylor out to claim more world honours

Scotland’s Josh Taylor says he wants to become the undisputed super-lightweight world champion after he beat Regis Prograis on Saturday. The ‘Tartan Tornado’ prevailed in a superb battle at the O2 Arena as he won the World Boxing Super Series final, the WBC diamond belt and added Prograis’ WBA title to his IBF strap. Taylor also claimed the Ring Magazine strap and Muhammad Ali trophy as he beat his American rival via a majority decision. The 28-year-old is now Britain’s only two-belt world champion, and he admitted he wants to unify at the start of 2020. He told Sky Sports: “What a fight, all respect to Regis, he’s a great champion and was very strong. “I knew I could get to him. I don’t think he expected me to be able to switch it up so easily. “Let’s get it on. Ramirez, where you at? Let’s do it!” Taylor remains undefeated in 16 bouts, but he may need to take a break after suffering a severe cut to his eye during his fight with Prograis.
