Based on his prior experience managing the Brazil winger at Ajax, Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, believes that the underperforming Antony has the character to “fight back”.
Although Antony has not yet been added to the Premier League starting lineup for 2024, Ten Hag stated that the 24-year-old has “great abilities.”
Ten Hag Lay Hopes On Antony
“I know from the past, he is unstoppable,” the Dutchman said on Tuesday. “No defender can stop him because he’s one of the quickest players in the first 10 yards. When he plays that game, he will perform.
“I’m very confident he will do it for the future. He is resilient, he is a character and he will fight back. I back him and he now has to wait for his chance and once he is there he has to pick up.”
France 24 notes Ten Hag made his remarks prior to United’s FA Cup fifth-round matchup with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday. United is hoping to bounce back from their Premier League defeat by Fulham, which ended in a 2-1 loss.
Ten Hag is aware of the expectations surrounding the team, and he believes that the FA Cup is United’s only realistic chance to win a trophy this season.

On Sunday, United plays Manchester City, and a loss would seriously hurt their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.
“When you are unbeaten for January and February and you lose one game — we know our aim is to win every game, at United you have to win every game,” said Ten Hag.
Casemiro, who was forced off against Fulham due to a cut on his head, is available for the trip to Nottingham.
“Obviously it was a poor performance (against Fulham), a poor defeat, we are aware of this and we want to stay in every competition so, yeah, we have to win tomorrow,” said the United boss.
