Erik ten Hag has given blunt answers about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United, but the new Red Devils boss appears to have put his faith in Harry Maguire while offering Donny van de Beek a lifeline.
The former Ajax boss has taken over at Old Trafford after a disappointing season in which the Premier League giants failed to win any trophy and failed to qualify for the Champions League.
This has raised concerns about the futures of several key players, including Ronaldo, but while Ten Hag stated in his first press conference that the attacker would remain, he was curt in his hopes.
What Did Ten Hag Have To Say On Ronaldo’s Future?
Ten Hag was brusque when asked if the Portuguese star, who had previously hinted that he was looking forward to competing under the Dutchman following his arrival, could adjust to his style.
When asked if the forward could play in his distinct formations, he replied, “Yes.” When further asked what he expected Ronaldo may bring to his team, Ten Hag added: “Goals.”

What Has Ten Hag Said About Van de Beek And Maguire?
Ten Hag lauded Harry Maguire’s contribution to the club since his arrival, despite the Man Utd captain’s record for being a lightning rod for poor team performances, and offered an olive branch to Donny van de Beek’s future at the club.
He stated of Maguire, “He did a tremendous job [this season].” “He is a fantastic player who has made a significant impact to United.”
‘We had a tremendous squad in Ajax,’ he said of Van de Beek, who previously played under the Dutchman in the pair’s home nation. I have a terrific relationship with him and I am looking forward to meeting him again on the pitch.”
