Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Mason Mount could return back to footballing action in the Red Devils’ match against Burnley at Old Trafford.
Mount, who joined United from Chelsea in July of last year, has been sidelined for the last two United’s games due to an injury sustained during the preparation for the FA Cup semifinal victory over Coventry City last weekend. Due to injuries during his first season at Old Trafford, the 25-year-old was only able to make 17 appearances across all competitions.
Mount, who has only managed one goal this season, hasn’t made a start for United since November 11 due to a calf injury sustained against Luton Town. Since then, he has made five appearances as a substitute.
That streak of bench appearances, though, was stopped prior to the matchup with the Sky Blues. He might, however, make a comeback this weekend against Burnley.
According to Manchester Evening News, following United’s 4-2 victory on Wednesday night, Ten Hag said in an interview with BBC Match of the Day: “Mason Mount, he will return, I think.”
Asked if any defenders will return for the clash with Vincent Kompany’s side, Ten Hag added: “No, not yet. We have to be patient for it. For coming back for the game against Burnley, I don’t expect [them].”

On Wednesday night, United had to add academy players to their bench for the second time in as many weeks. Young players Louis Jackson, Habeeb Ogunneye, Harry Amass, and Ethan Wheatley were among the substitutes.
In added time, the latter made his senior debut, taking Rasmus Hojlund’s place to become the 250th academy graduate in the history of the club.
