Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag claims his side need to get Old Trafford buzzing in a bid to salvage their season.
On Boxing Day, three days after suffering a crushing 2-0 loss at West Ham, United will play their first match as they take on high-flying Aston Villa. It has been revealed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has agreed to purchase a 25% share in the club.
The Hammers defeat was their 20th in 2023 and their 13th in 26 games this season, which is their highest number of losses in a calendar year since 1989.
Ten Hag is aware that he must give the Old Trafford supporters something to cheer about after Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp criticized the atmosphere at Anfield following their Carabao Cup victory over the Hammers last week.
What Did Ten Hag Say About The Old Trafford Atmosphere?
“I am sure they are very disappointed in us and we have to put things right and do things different,” said the United boss as reported by PlanetSport.
“We appreciate all the time they are supporting us. With all the setbacks this season, they are all the time behind us and we really appreciate that. Of course we need any help but first of all I and the team have to do it.”
The Red Devils need to win against a Villa team that is posing an unlikely title challenge. United have lost more games before Christmas a record which was stretched back since 1931.
“Villa is a different side in very good form, a very good team,” added Ten Hag.

“If you are creating the chances you have to take them, otherwise you don’t win games. That’s clear.
“I am not disappointed by the attitude, but of course we know what the standard is at Manchester United.”
