John Terry has revealed his two children were given “the best birthday present ever” when they heard the Chelsea captain had signed a new deal at the club.
Chelsea announced on Wednesday that Terry, who has been at Stamford Bridge since the age of 14, had put pen to paper on a new one-year contract extension that will see him enter into his 22nd year at the club.
The centre-back’s future at Chelsea had been in doubt, with the Blues waiting until last week to offer him a new deal despite the fact his current contract was due to expire next month.
But shortly after Terry accepted his new deal, the 35-year-old posted a picture of him, his wife Toni and their two children Georgie and Summer and revealed just how much it meant to his kids that he will stay another year at Chelsea.
“Georgie and Summer just told me they have had the best birthday present ever,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Daddy staying at Chelsea. Proper Chels like their Dad.”
