Chelsea have been dealt a major blow this week, after John Terry picked up another ankle injury which is expected to rule him out of their game against Manchester United.
The 35-year-old picked up an injury late on in the 2-2 draw with Swansea City last month and it forced him to miss three league games, as well as the trip to Leicester City in the EFL Cup.
Terry’s absence hindered Chelsea as they lost to rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, but Antonio Conte’s side were handed a welcome boost when the centre-back was named on the bench for last week’s win over Leicester.
However, Terry’s return has lasted just days and ahead of the home game against Manchester United on Sunday, The Times reports that the former England captain has suffered yet another ankle injury.
It is unclear whether the injury is on the same ankle which Terry injured last month, but the report indicates that the Chelsea skipper has been assessed by medical staff.
It is believed that even if Terry is fit to train – he missed training on Thursday due to the injury – it is unlikely that he will be risked against Jose Mourinho’s side on Sunday.
