The reasons why Bayern Munich have been prohibited from wearing their home jersey during the UEFA Champions League campaign have now been made public.
After missing out on the Bundesliga title the previous season, the Bavarian giants are getting closer to winning it again and also making good progress in their European campaign.
The German outfit are still in the competition and will play Celtic on Wednesday night in the play-off, after missing out on automatic qualification.
Celtic will wear their away kit even though there isn’t a clear clash between their home and away kits—The Bhoys playing in their green and white jersey, while Bayern in red and black.

According to the Daily Mail, Vincent Kompany’s team have been banned by UEFA from participating in the competition wearing their home uniform due to the black numbers on the jersey, which they say don’t provide enough contrast for viewers.
Since then, the governing body have stated that Bayern would be permitted to wear the jersey, provided they make a few minor adjustments.
In particular, Bayern would be able to use the kit as the competition goes on if the names and numbers were changed to a white typeface.
On the night that they become undefeated in 16 home games this season, including four in the Champions League, Bayern will have their work cut out for them.
