Thiago Alcantara has made some progress toward becoming a coach since leaving Liverpool in the summer, and he may take the next step in January.
After making connections with Barcelona and Hansi Flick in the summer, the Spanish publication MARCA claims that he may rejoin the La Liga powerhouse.

Naturally, Thiago played for Barcelona from 2009 to 2013, after which he joined Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
Before spending a few months at Barcelona, where he became one of the most well-known faces of pre-season, notably during the Catalan team’s tour of the United States, Thiago retired in the summer.
Flick was intrigued by Thiago’s abilities and wanted him since he could speak Spanish and German.
The former Liverpool star may now be set to return to Barcelona for a coaching position.
Whether it would be a more permanent arrangement or just another temporary one is still unclear.
“I miss being around — being around the team and the locker room,” Thiago said on Liverpool’s official website after making his first appearance back at Anfield since his departure.
“I miss the game’s competitive aspect.
“But ultimately, physical concerns compelled the decision to retire.”
However, I’m simply trying to stay in shape, play as much as I can with my friends, and stay alive in the game.”
