Thomas Partey has returned to training, giving Arsenal a major injury boost ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match against Brentford.
When fit, the Ghana international is an important cog in Mikel Arteta’s side, but he has been unable to stay out of the treatment room during his two years in North London.
Partey has two goals and four assists in 62 appearances for Arsenal since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2020, but he has missed 36 games due to injury.
The 29-year-old suffered his latest thigh injury last month and has missed the Gunners’ previous four matches in all competitions.
Manager Arteta admitted earlier this month that Partey would need “weeks” to recuperate from his latest setback, which prompted Arsenal’s failed search of a replacement midfielder on transfer deadline day.
The midfielder, though, has been called up to the Ghana squad for the international break, and CBS Sports’ James Benge adds that he could be back in action for Arsenal as soon as this weekend.
I’m told Thomas Partey has returned to full training ahead of Arsenal’s game against Brentford.

The Gunners will face Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday lunchtime, and there is hope that Partey will be available to Arteta for that capital derby.
Thomas Partey Injury Update Today
Partey has already returned to full training with his teammates and was even in with a possibility of making the cut against Everton on September 11 before the Premier League fixtures were postponed.

It’s unclear whether Partey will be considered for minutes from the start, with Albert Sambi Lokonga ready to deputise alongside Granit Xhaka once more.
While Partey may be able to return before the international break, fellow lynchpin Mohamed Elneny may be out until the new year as he recovers from his own hamstring injury.
The Premier League have confirmed that the Gunners’ match against Brentford will go ahead, although the kickoff time has been altered from 2pm to 12pm.
