Three Champions League Clubs ‘Set To Rival Man United for Gyokeres’

Manchester United are allegedly prepared to compete with three Champions League clubs for the signature of Sporting attacker Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres is one of the most sought-after strikers in international football, and his hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League this week further added to his reputation.

With Sporting manager Ruben Amorim due to take over at United, talk has grown that Gyokeres may transfer to Old Trafford.

However, a deal is unlikely to be uncomplicated, as several other top clubs are also interested in the 26-year-old.

Gyokeres has previously played in England for Brighton, Swansea, and Coventry.

L’Equipe reports that Manchester City, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich are all interested in signing Gyokeres.

PSG is unlikely to pursue a transfer for Gyokeres in January, considering Sporting’s asking price of more than £62 million (€75 million). He has a release clause worth £83 million (€100 million).

Gyokeres, who joined Sporting in 2023, has 66 goals in 67 games in all competitions.

United already has Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as strikers, but the addition of Gyokeres would provide a big boost.

Gyokeres helped Sporting win the Portuguese league championship last season. He was chosen to the Championship team of the season in 2022-23, his final season at Coventry.

Following Sporting’s 4-1 home victory over City, Amorim stated that Gyokeres will stay with the Portuguese club until the summer before leaving.
