Three Real Madrid Players At Risk Of Suspension Against Liverpool

Real Madrid’s persistent injury crisis continues to put strain on the team, with Carlo Ancelotti traveling to Liverpool without six key players.

However, in addition to the injury situation, the club faces the possibility of multiple player suspensions. There are currently three active players who risk missing future matches due to yellow card accumulation.

In fact, up to three of these players—Luka Modric, Eduardo Camavinga, and Lucas Vazquez—are questionable for the forthcoming game against Atalanta on December 10th. Furthermore, Vinicius Jr., who is injured and will miss the match against Liverpool, is also in danger.

Troubles for Real Madrid

Modric has been booked twice in the group stages, once against Stuttgart and again against Lille. Camavinga received yellow cards in both the matches against Lille and Milan.

Meanwhile, Vazquez has received two yellow cards, one in the Stuttgart game and the other against Milan.Reported by Madrid universal.

Real Madrid is presently the second most-carded team in this year’s Champions League, with 14 yellow cards, trailing Girona (15) and level with Sturm Graz. Ancelotti has also been booked for the tournament.

Going from bad to worse.

This increased number of yellow cards is posing a huge problem for the defending champions. After recent defeats to Lille and Milan, Madrid cannot afford any more mistakes if they are to finish in the top eight of the group stage.

Finishing in the top eight assures a direct spot in the round of 16, bypassing the additional elimination phase, which includes teams finishing ninth to twenty-fourth place. Madrid is currently in 21st place, having scored six points in four games.

It should be noted that the new tournament format demands teams to play more matches, with the ultimate champions having to play between 15 and 17 games, as opposed to the previous 13.

Regardless, the rule related to Yellow card suspensions remain unaltered. Players who receive three yellow cards face suspension, with future bans occurring after every two yellow cards.
