Just hours after his football ban comes to an end, Brentford striker, Ivan Toney reportedly dropped a major transfer hint.
Since May, the 27-year-old forward has not appeared on the pitch for the Bees due to his acceptance of 232 infractions of the Football Association’s betting regulations.
Toney’s eight-month suspension ended on Wednesday. So he can play again on Saturday when his side plays Nottingham Forest.
Some clubs might not have supported a player given such a severe suspension. Though, Toney admitted that he has “a lot to repay” the team and its supporters.
Last week the 27-year-old told Sky Sports: “Everyone knows Brentford is a family club, they have been nothing but amazing for me. I can’t thank them enough, especially the fans. They were behind me from the first minute. So it’s kind of like I have a lot to repay.”
But Toney changed his tone a few hours after his ban ended. The England international acknowledged in a different interview with Sky Sports that he wants to play for a “top club”. And even hinted that he might leave Brentford before the January transfer window shuts in two weeks.
What Did Toney Say About His Future At Brentford?
“You can never predict when is the right time to move elsewhere,”he said as echoed by SportBible.
“It’s obvious I’d like to play for a top club, everybody wants to play for the top clubs, fighting for titles and these kinds of things.

“So whether it’s this January for a club to come in and pay the right money, who knows? But my main focus is doing what I do on the pitch and let the background work take care of itself.”
Toney has been linked to Chelsea and Arsenal in the winter window, he also admitted to be a Liverpool fan. We wait and see which club he ended with before the end of the window.
