To the delight of the enthusiastic Saudi Arabian crowd, most of whom seemed to be Madridistas, Real Madrid easily defeated Barcelona 4-1 on Sunday night. However, Toni Kroos, as he was against Atletico Madrid, was still subjected to jeers and whistles every time he touched the ball.
According to Football Espana, The German midfielder had previously stated that he would never move to Saudi Arabia because he believed the country lacked human rights and that those who did who were still considered elite players were a disgrace.

Despite the whistles, Kroos appeared unfazed, putting on two outstanding performances in the final and semifinal. He did make fun of the whistles in a post-match tweet following the first game, and he saw the reaction once more on Sunday night. According to Marca, Kroos did not wear the “Supercup winners” t-shirt that his teammates wore following the match. Instead, it featured an enormous 13—a symbolizing Real Madrid’s winning total—as well as an Arabic phrase.
