Real Madrid are reportedly willing to offer a contract extension to midfielder Toni Kroos which would see him retire at the La Liga club.
There had been a moment during the summer transfer window when it seemed that the Germany international’s spell at the Bernabau could be coming to an end.
Los Blancos had recently signed Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni to battle with the likes of Casemiro, Luka Modric, and Kroos in the middle of the pitch.
However, the former’s unexpected exit to Manchester United piled the burden on Kroos’ shoulders in the early weeks of 2022-23.
Despite only recording six starts and two substitute appearances in all competitions, the 32-year-old has re-established himself as an integral part of Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
In addition to playing 80 minutes or more in six games, Kroos has assisted in recent wins over Mallorca and RB Leipzig.
Toni Kroos Set For Real Madrid Contract Extension?
As per Football Espana, the Real hierarchy are now prepared to move with an offer of new agreements, extending Kroos’ current contract past 2023.
Although the new contract’s length is presently unknown, Real may limit the extension to a year, with another central midfielder expected to join the La Liga giants next summer.

Kroos recently addressed his future, noting that president Florentino Perez had not attempted to sell him during the recent transfer window.
During an interview with OMR, Kroos said: “I know that in these eight years he has not thought for a second about selling me. At that time I came for ‘only’ 25 million euros, surely he could have sold me later for more money.
“I have an excellent relationship with the club, I have grown very fond of it. The president, the team, the fans, so I won’t leave either.”
Kroos has 25 goals and 85 assists in 373 games across all competitions during his eight years in Spain.
Among his achievements at the club are three La Liga titles and four Champions League titles.
