Torres scores in five consecutive games for the first time in his career

Atletico Madrid forward Fernando Torres may currently be 32, but the former Liverpool man is continuing to break records, and did so again on Wednesday evening.

The former Chelsea hit-man, who originally moved back to Spain in what seemed like a rather heart-felt transfer at the time instead of one that would’ve really benefited Atletico, has been heavily involved under Diego Simeone over the last few months.

Torres netted over the weekend against Granada to make it the fourth game in a row that he’d scored, a run he last achieved during his time at Liverpool, and continued his fine recent form when he made it a fifth on the bounce tonight against Athletic Club.

Torres has now scored in five consecutive games, a feat he’s never achieved during his professional playing career, which highlights the sort of form he’s in at the moment.

Torres’ goal on Sunday meant that he had 86 for the club – overtaking his 85 for Liverpool – and tonight is just one more to add to a remarkable career for the Spain international.

Torres’ form will certainly leave Liverpool fans thinking ‘what if’, after the striker left them in January 2011 for Chelsea, and in turn saw his career, as well as his form, spiral out of control at Stamford Bridge.
