According to Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping an eye on Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse ahead of the summer transfer window.
Tottenham, according to the publication, sent scouts to watch Ward-Prowse during Southampton’s 3-1 Premier League defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday in order to recruit the England international this summer.
Spurs are preparing a big overhaul following an inconsistent season that might see them lose out on European competition next season, despite presently sitting sixth in the Premier League with 54 points.
After sacking Antonio Conte, the club’s chairman, Daniel Levy, is looking for a permanent manager, while interim manager Cristian Stellini was fired after four games in charge.
However, the north Londoners are still pushing ahead with their summer transfer plans, and signing a midfielder, with Ward-Prowse emerging as a serious target, could be on the cards.
If Southampton are relegated, they will lose a number of key players, including Kyle Walker-Peters, Mohammed Salisu, Armel Bella-Kotchap, Romeo Lavia, and Ward-Prowse.

The Saints are bottom of the Premier League league with 24 points after 34 games this season. Ruben Selles’ men are six points from safety, and with only four games remaining this season, they will need a miracle to survive.
Tottenham aim to improve their midfield options by bringing in Ward-Prowse, who has played in the Premier League since 2011, having joined the South Coast club when he was eight years old.
Spurs are waiting to see what Southampton will ask for Ward-Prowse if they are demoted, according to the Daily Mail. The midfielder’s deal with the Saints expires in 2026, so he may command a fair price.
