Prior to the Leeds game, the gap between Manchester United and Tottenham in seventh was just four points and Neville stresses that Manchester United just can’t afford to lose points.
“A little bit. Manchester United’s run over the last few months has been welcoming for Ralf Rangnick, but he’s got a tough period in front of him,” Manchestereveningnews.co.uk quoted Neville as saying when asked if Tottenham and Arsenal wins have made Manchester United uncomfortable.
“I think he’ll recognise that Tottenham result will just have boosted them at a point where they looked like they were in decline last season.
“That will have just shot United a little bit, they can’t afford to lose points here today [vs Leed United],” Neville concluded.
Manchester United went on to beat Leeds United 4-2 at Elland Road on Sunday, and climbed to the fourth spot in the Premier League, though in the meantime, in view of the fact that Arsenal and Tottenham have three games apiece in hand. Fifth placed West Ham have one outstanding game.
