Nuno Espirito Santo has been told Tottenham have no intention of selling Harry Kane this summer.
The Portuguese was appointed Spurs’ new head coach on Wednesday.
The former Wolves boss has been told to plan for next season with Kane in his team; the club steadfast in their stance the England captain is not for sale.
The news provides a clear indication the club will continue to resist offers for their prized asset from Manchester City.
It was reported last month that the Etihad Stadium club had launched a a £100million attempt to lure No 1 centre-forward target Kane away from Tottenham this summer.
Kane is keen to leave north London ahead of next season in search of a club that can offer him realistic hope of winning top trophies and his preferred destination is the Etihad Stadium.
News of City’s efforts will not be welcomed by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who values Kane at a minimum £150million.
But while Levy has made his intention to keep Kane at the club for next season clear to his new manager, is unlikely to stop cash-rich City from continuing their pursuit.
However, it now appears that only an extraordinary offer will spark a change of heart from Tottenham with the club determined for Kane to lead the team forward under Santos.
Kane is currently preparing for Saturday’s crucial European Championships quarter-final clash against Ukraine in Rome and is adamant the uncertainty over his future isn’t a distraction.
The striker, who still has three years to run on his current deal, will focus on resolving his future ahead of next season after the tournament – but Tottenham’s determination to keep him will prove a huge obstacle to overcome if he is to secure a transfer to the Premier League champions.
