According to journalist Sami Mokbel, Tottenham Hotspur see Brennan Johnson as a winger who might play as a striker this season.
Mokbel appeared on the Last Word on Spurs podcast and provided an update on Tottenham’s interest in the Nottingham Forest player.
Spurs are expected to pursue a forward before the deadline tomorrow, following the loss of their top player, Harry Kane, earlier this month.

Tottenham are still looking for an attacker capable of playing across the frontline to replace Kane.
Johnson has performed admirably for Forest in recent years, primarily as a right-sided forward.
The 22-year-old has demonstrated his ability to play through the middle, and it appears Spurs believe he can play as a striker under Postecoglou.
Johnson might be used as a striker for Tottenham?
Mokbel suggested on the LWOS that Tottenham consider Johnson as a player who could play as a No9 if he moves to North London.
“I think it’s Johnson and [Ansu] Fati at this point,” the journalist speculated. “But I heard earlier in the summer that they see Johnson as a player who could play as a number nine because he has those attributes.”
“He’s quick. He’s not the Kane type, of course he’s not. But he brings different facets to forward play and I think there is potentially a role as a number nine for Brennan Johnson if he is to arrive, which makes signing an out-and-out number nine less of a priority.”
Mokbel was commenting about Tottenham’s interest in Johnson yesterday night, before Brighton agreed to a deal with Barcelona to sign Ansu Fati, one of their objectives.
Spurs appear to be going all-in on Johnson to bolster Postecoglou’s offensive options.
Last season, the 22-year-old scored 11 goals in his maiden season in the Premier League.
However, it is intriguing to learn that Spurs believe he can play as a striker under Postecoglou. The’very quick’ winger has always performed better when positioned on the right side of the field.
Nonetheless, a move for Johnson makes sense for Tottenham since it would create competition for both Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski.
