Tottenham Hotspur Confident Harry Kane Will Sign New Contract

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly confident that they can persuade Harry Kane to commit his future to the club with a new contract.

The England captain was the subject of a lengthy transfer saga in 2021, having allegedly tried and failed to force a switch from the North London giants.

Manchester City and Manchester United were both reported to be interested in Kane, but Daniel Levy’s £150m asking price put them off.

As a result, Kane stayed at Tottenham for the 2021-22 season, scoring 17 goals and helping Antonio Conte’s team return to the Champions League.

However, the 29-year-old is still awaiting his first major club trophy, and his current contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expires in 2024.

Tottenham are keen to hold Kane down to a new contract in a bid to deter interest from other teams, and 90Min reports that the Lilywhites are still confident of doing so.

According to the report, Conte’s team intends to sit down with Kane after the World Cup and reach an agreement in the hopes of securing his new contract in early 2023.

Tottenham are said to be unfazed with Kane’s contract status, despite Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann and director Hasan Salihamidzic publicly expressing interest.

The striker has been in excellent form for Tottenham in the Premier League this season, scoring 10 goals in 12 games, but he has been unable to prevent Spurs from losing back-to-back games to Manchester United and Newcastle United.

Kane now has 259 goals and 61 assists in 402 games for Tottenham, although he is still some distance off Erling Braut Haaland’s 17 goals in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.
