Following nearly ten years in Derby County’s junior system, the 21-year-old joined Manchester City’s academy in 2019 and made his first appearance for the Citizens’ first squad the following year.
The young player was moved out on loan to the Championship several times to play often and advance his career before Ipswich made the decision to sign him permanently because he never establish himself in Pep Guardiola’s side.
Delap has a strong start to the season after joining the team at Portman Road Stadium.
He has scored four goals in eight Premier League games, and the newly promoted team is now barely above the relegation zone.
Delap is available for a cost of about £33 million [€40 million], and Spurs are thinking about signing him during the next January transfer window.
The Lilywhites aren’t the only team in the race, though, as Arsenal is reportedly preparing a move for him. Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also interested in him, report Football Talk.
Additionally, Man City want to return the young player into the team. However, Spurs are now “leading the race” to sign Delap, surpassing both Arsenal and Manchester City.
Richarlison’s future at Tottenham will be in doubt if they acquire Delap in January after recently strengthening their striking department with the summer signing of Dominic Solanke.
