Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning a move to hijack the transfer of Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher from Aston Villa.
Villa are said to have opened talks with Chelsea for Gallagher ahead of the summer transfer window, but Spurs are believed to soon launch a bid.
There are just 12 months left on the 24-year-old’s current Chelsea contract. Although they haven’t yet met Gallagher’s financial demands, the Blues have made an effort to lock down the midfielder to new terms.
It’s expected that if a new deal isn’t swiftly worked out this summer, Chelsea will reluctantly approve a sale.
In addition to starting negotiations with Chelsea over the transfer, Villa are also in talks with Gallagher about personal terms, according to David Ornstein.
Emery has a very high opinion of Gallagher, and Chelsea’s interest in Villa’s striker Jhon Duran is one thing that might go in the Birmingham-based club’s favor.
Chelsea have stated unequivocally that Gallagher would cost nothing less than £50 million.
Villa, however, are still moving forward with their plans to sign Gallagher and are expected to encounter fierce competition from Tottenham.
