Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to test the waters by preparing a substantial bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder, Joao Gomes.
The youngster might sign with Spurs this winter as club chairman Daniel Levy continues to support manager Ange Postecoglou’s efforts with new signings.
Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin recently signed, trained and made their debuts for the Lilywhites, with the January transfer window only just at its nearly point. Most of Spurs’ Premier League rivals have not made many additions to their teams.
Spurs are said to be considering a third January raid in an effort to keep up the momentum, which would cross the last item off their winter to-do list. Postecoglou has a versatile attacker and an athletic defender in Werner and Dragusin.
And what’s currently lacking is a new presence in the middle of the park. According to Brazilian publication Gavea News as reported by Daily Express, Joao Gomes is squarely in sight of the chiefs in the north London-based club.
According to the report, Tottenham’s interest is so strong that they may make a sizable offer of £30 million in the next few days.
Given that they bid farewell to fellow midfielders Ruben Neves and Matheus Nunes during the summer, Wolves would undoubtedly demand a high price.
This season, a number of players, including Gomes and 10-goal forward Hwang Hee-chan, have excelled under manager Gary O’Neil.

The 22-year-old, who Wolves had a contentious transfer battle over with French powerhouse Lyon, finally signed him in January.
If Spurs decide to pursue their interest, Flamengo, the Brazilian team where Gomes progressed through the ranks, would be entitled to 10 percent of the total transfer sum.
