Tottenham Hotspur star, Heung-min Son has issued an update on the injury he sustained while on international duty with South Korea.
In South Korea’s breezy 5-0 victory over Singapore, Son curled home a breathtaking left-footed goal in his side’s opening World Cup qualifying match.
What’s more worrisome is that he broke down in pain after taking a severe hit to his right knee late in the second half and required medical attention.
While he played the entire game, according to The Independent, the South Korean captain downplayed the gravity of the situation in his post-match interview with reporters.
“We are making a team for the World Cup, I can’t give up a game just because I feel pain,” said Son.
“If I can’t run anymore, then I can’t do anything about it but when I can run, I have to give 100 per cent for the team.
“I am fine now, I don’t like to lie down [on the pitch] in the winter. At that moment [when he went down] I couldn’t feel anything on my foot. I’m fine, no injury.”
“I am not the only one hurting out there. Everyone plays with some bumps and bruises,” he added.
