Tottenham Hotspur are working on a deal to bring former Chelsea winger Andre Schurrle back to the Premier League.
Schurrle will be no stranger to Spurs fans due to his past allegiance with the Blues, with whom he spent two years between 2013 and 2015, lifting the Premier League title before being deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
He sealed a move to Wolfsburg for £22 million in February of last year but despite playing fairly regularly at Volkswagen Arena, he is believed to have grown unsettled working under Dieter Hecking, leading to speculation about his future.
And with Spurs looking to bolster their attacking options with Champions League football looking a certainty for next season, the Mirror report that intermediaries have already started to work on a deal which will bring the 25-year-old to White Hart Lane in the summer.
Furthermore, Schurrle is said to be keen on leaving Wolfsburg after less than 18 months on their books, with his fiancee believed to be eager to move away from the city.
Mauricio Pochettino currently has a number of decent options on the wings such as Nacer Chadli and Son Heung-Min, who supplement regular starters Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen.
Schurrle, who regularly drifts across the midfield, is certainly a player that could fit the club’s style of play though, with most of Spurs’ width provided by their marauding full-backs Danny Rose and Kyle Walker.
The attacking-midfielder has recorded six goals and three assists in the Bundesliga this season and could be due to return to London, where he scored 11 goals in 44 games with rivals Chelsea.
