Tottenham’s Biggest Star Is Becoming Remarkably Underappreciated

Tottenham rebounded from humiliating losses to fellow top-four rivals Newcastle and Arsenal by defeating Brentford 3-1 in the Premier League this weekend.

Spurs’ James Maddison stole the show, but he wasn’t the only offensive player to shine against the Bees on Saturday.

Son Heung-min, who returned to his preferred position following Dominic Solanke’s summer arrival, did not score a goal but did record two assists and seven important passes, matching Maddison’s seven dribbles.

Son became Tottenham’s indisputable top player after Harry Kane moved to Bayern Munich in 2023, and after a disappointing 2022/23 season, he rebounded in 2023/24 as Ange Postecoglou’s main striker, scoring 17 goals and assisting 10 times.Reported By Sky Sports.

The South Korean superstar has been one of the top players in the Premier League for years, with eight seasons of double-digit goals and three seasons of double-digit assists since moving from the Bundesliga to Tottenham.

This season, Son has generated a chance in each of his five Premier League starts, and he has four goal contributions in five games, including a brace against Everton and a brace of assists at Brentford.

Nonetheless, it’s astonishing to see how many uninformed supporters declare Son is “past it” or “finished” and assume that the Tottenham star is no longer one of the best wingers in the Premier League.

He has hardly missed a beat since returning to the wing, and his performance against Brentford demonstrates that he is just as adept at creating opportunities as he is at finishing them for Tottenham.

As much as Tottenham has progressed under Postecoglou, it appears that some of its brightest stars, such as Son and Maddison, are still undervalued due to disproportionate criticism from rival fanbases with huge online presences, like as Chelsea and Arsenal.

Son remains as thrilling and efficient as any Premier League attacker.
