Townsend embracing tough looking run of fixtures

Andros Townsend is confident Crystal Palace can cause more upsets as they head into, what looks like on paper, a tricky run of games. Palace have enjoyed an excellent start to the season under Roy Hodgson and are currently sixth in the division after taking 14 points from eight games.
Their opening two games in August were extremely discouraging having drawn 0-0 with Everton before losing 1-0 away to Sheffield United, but the Eagles have soared since, kickstarted by a 2-1 victory at Manchester United.
Following a 4-0 loss away to Tottenham on September 14, the Eagles have embarked on a run of seven points from a possible nine.
Townsend and co now prepare to host Manchester City at Selhurst Park on Saturday looking to further dent the champions’ season with them trailing Liverpool by eight points already.
It starts a difficult run of games where Palace play four of the given “big six” as well as Leicester in the next six fixtures.
Despite the fact Hodgson’s side heads into the City contest as overwhelming underdogs, Townsend is confident they can cause problems for Pep Guardiola’s champions. “We’ve been on a good run, we’ve picked up some points, which has been unexpected of us, but now come the tough games — and it doesn’t come much tougher than City,” he admitted. “We’re fully focused on that and, hopefully, we can pull off another few shocks in the next few games.”
Townsend has scored one goal in seven appearances so far this term and punters can use their free bet to back him to score the first goal at 25/1.
