Trippier Making Efforts To Convince Chelsea Star To Join Atletico Madrid

Newcatsle United defender, Kieran Trippier is reportedly helping Atletico Madrid in their pursuit to sign Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher this summer transfer window.

As stated in the Monday edition of AS as reported by Sport Witness, Andrea Berta, the director of Atletico, is adamant about obtaining the Chelsea player’s services.

The Newcastle defender is a potential “ally” for Berta as his team pursues the 24-year-old midfield player.

33-year-old Trippier moved to Newcastle in January 2022 after more than 18 months of service with the La Liga team. He is familiar with what it’s like to live in Madrid and to represent Los Rojiblancos.

Both the right-back and Gallagher were on the England team that lost to Spain in the Euros final earlier this month. According to the newspaper, Trippier told the Chelsea midfielder how great Atletico is while they were in Germany and encouraged him to consider joining them.

Gallagher wants to move to Madrid, and Diego Simeone’s side are aware of this. And they will try to do everything possible to sign him during this transfer window.

The Englishman has a contract with Chelsea until 2025. The Blues rejected a €20 million offer from Atletico earlier. AS claims that if Metropolitan club were to present a better offer, the Blues would be open to Gallagher’s departure.

Gallagher made 50 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea last season, scoring 7 goals and providing nine assists. The 24-year-old also featured five times for England as they reached the 2024 Euros final.
