Tuchel set to raid former club Dortmund for Sancho as Chelsea look to beat Man United

The race for Jadon Sancho is hotting up between Premier League heavyweights, with Chelsea now registering their interest in the attacker alongside Manchester United and Liverpool.

According to Bild in Germany, Thomas Tuchel is lining up a raid on his old Bundesliga club this summer to swoop for the England international.

It is believed Dortmund have a gentleman’s agreement in place with Sancho that will allow him to leave this summer for the right price.

Last year, that fee was around the £105million mark but now, due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on football’s finances, it is believed that an offer of £78m will bring Dortmund to the table.

Tuchel has had an excellent impact at Chelsea since replacing axed club legend Frank Lampard midway through the campaign.

He has steered the Blues into fourth in the Premier League standings, the final of the FA Cup and the semi-final of the Champions League, where they drew 1-1 away to Real Madrid in the first leg.

And with the Blues ownership looking to back the German in the transfer window this summer, Sancho could well be a marquee signing.

Chelsea have been linked with an array of other big names as well, including Sancho’s team-mate at Dortmund, Erling Haaland.

In regard to Sancho, United’s long-term interest in the former Manchester City player has been well known while Bild reported recently that his displays at Dortmund have caught the eye of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

But with the Reds facing a season outside of the Champions League, a switch to Anfield may well seem less appealing to the 21-year-old.

After a summer of being at the centre of a transfer tussle between United and Dortmund, Sancho endured a slow start to the 2020-21 season but has returned to form with 12 goals and 18 assists in 34 games so far.

In all his time in Germany, he has scored 46 goals overall for Dortmund and provided 62 assists.
